I’m Not Done Yet

This blog is written by David Kent.

David and Susan Kent have planted multiple churches in Minneapolis and elsewhere. He has served in several leadership roles with the United Pentecostal Church, International. In June of 2024, the Kents celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.

On December 16, 2022, I drove to the church to plow snow from the parking lot. On arrival, work was being done on the road. The access was blocked. As I stepped out to speak with the workers, I slipped on the icy road. The fall broke my neck. I instantly became quadriplegic.

Sixty-three days were spent in a Minneapolis’ hospital before The Shepherd Center a rehab facility in Atlanta accepted me. A challenge remained. $15,000 was needed for the flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta. Susan and I are deeply grateful to North American Missions and Ladies Ministries for stepping in to provide emergency funds to cover much of this expense. These ministries had repeatedly helped when we planted churches, but this situation was personal. Without their help, I don’t know how we would have managed.

This has been a journey. I don’t know how many days or how much time I have left, but I know one thing: my God is a good God, and I am thankful for the opportunity to continue serving Him in this life.
