Trusting God's GPS Through Life's Journey
This blog written by Mark Morris.
One of the greatest inventions of the last several years has got to be the GPS or global positioning system. It originated around 1970 but has really become popular in the last few years.
Since the GPS has become available to the every day public, traveling has never been the same. Gone are the days of getting a free map at the local gas station or purchasing a Rand McNally road atlas. My wife was always my navigator. She would read the map when we would vacation or travel to church conferences. I depended on her and the road atlas to get us there and back.

Days before our trip, we would sit at the kitchen table and map out our trip. Now with smart phones, we just simply type in our desired destination, and it gives us the shortest possible route and even lets us pick the voice we wish to tell us when to turn or stop. The part I find most helpful is when it tells me which lane to get in to make the correct turn. No more guesswork, just simply following the GPS.
It seems whenever we talk about young people or infants the scripture in Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans I have for you,” is often mentioned and we often rejoice with the writer of Psalms when he tells us that the steps of a good man are ordered of God.
I’m glad our young people and infants can rejoice that their steps are ordered according to the plans that God has for them.
But what about we who are the Sage age? Does God still have plans for us? And are our steps still ordered by God? I believe God still has a plan or a destiny for all of us. I believe our steps are still being ordered by God.
There is no place in scripture that teaches at a certain age we are on our own. What a shame to come this far and lose our way now. A GPS can give us the correct direction, but we have the power to override it. Many times I have decided to stop or visit someplace off of the path chosen by the GPS. It will plead with me to reroute and turn around and go the right way.
There have been times while traveling new roads, I have questioned the GPS. But I have found that if I held steady to the plan I would always arrive safely.
I may not recognize where I am at this moment but I must continue to trust God’s GPS, His word and His plan for my life.
Final note. How many times have you tried to outrun the time that your GPS says you have to travel? Remember the scripture teaches “if we wait upon the Lord he will renew our strength.”So there is no need to hurry through life. Just follow his GPS.
God bless till next time and safe travels through this new journey of life.
