Stephen and Mickey Giarratano

Stephen and Mickey Giarratano started a church in Huntsville, Alabama twenty-three years ago. Due to health concerns and following the voice of God, they decided to step aside yet remain as Bishop. After making that hard decision, they asked their son-in-law and daughter to step in as Pastors and are glad to report that the church is thriving.

Bro. Davidson, District Superintendent of Alabama, sensing a ministry need for the elders, asked Bro. G and Sis. G. (as they are affectionately called) to lead the charge. An active, local group soon assembled for monthly meetings with meals, games, and heartfelt fellowship. Bro. G. humbly stated that within the last two years, six or seven new converts have joined. That alone has made the transition worthwhile.

The members work hard at garage sales and other fundraisers for exciting special trips. Sis. G. stated that they raised enough funds last year to travel as a group to the Noah’s Ark exhibit in Kentucky.

During the holidays last year, the merry group assembled for a Thanksgiving Feast prepared by willing hands. During their December meeting, they enjoyed singing familiar Christmas Carols.

There are plans being made to have the group do an entire service. Bro. and Sis. G both are musicians and may be called upon to accompany their daughter with the older songs that have been requested. There is also a SAGE pianist who plays during the altar services who may fill in.

How exciting to know that a future meeting will be a SAGE/Youth game night. This is mentoring, building relationships and having fun at its finest in Alabama.
