Grandpa Needs a Raise!

The following blog is by Mark Morris.

A great concern or difficulty that many grandparents deal with while raising their grandchildren is the financial strain.

Many grandparents are either retired or preparing for retirement when circumstances caused them to become parents to their grandchildren.

Custodial grandparents receive minimal financial help compared to traditional foster parents.

Often social service agencies consider grandparents to be a temporary solution yet they are often the preferred solution.

Even though they are the preferred solution, they are overlooked many times when it comes to financial help.

If a grandparent has retired, they may have to go back to work or rearrange their retirement strategy.

I was still working a secular job and pastoring a church, and we still at times felt a financial strain.

Raising children is an expensive venture.

How have you made it work financially for you?

Please share with us, so we too can do a better job
