Raising Grandchildren

The following blog is by Mark Morris.

Although it is never the ideal situation, many times grandparents find that they need to raise their grandchildren because the parents of the children are not in a position to do so. Sometimes it’s because of financial circumstances and sometimes it’s because of unsafe circumstances in the parents home. Many times it’s because of drug abuse or sometimes it’s because of unforeseen tragic events. Whatever the case may be more grandparents today than ever before are having to step in and fill the gap.

Across the United States, it is sad that more than 13 million children are living in homes with her grandparents that means that there are 2.5 million grandparents raising their grandchildren every day.

This seems to be a growing phenomenon in our country.

Has this ever affected any of my fellow sages?

We have been filling this role for the last 15 years.

Can you share with this group some of your struggles and victories?
